No. 4 Bridge Fishing Pier

7.1· Pier · Cedar Key, FL

Free: Listed as a free site by the Florida Birding Trail (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The No. 4 Bridge Fishing Pier stands beside State Road 24 where it crosses the Number Four Channel on the way into Cedar Key, next to a public boat ramp. About 200 feet long, it reaches out over a tidal channel that drains a maze of oyster bars and grass flats, a quieter choice than the downtown pier. Speckled trout, redfish, sheepshead and black drum are the mainstays, with flounder in the fall and mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel and ladyfish in the warm months. Live shrimp under a cork or on a light bottom rig works best, with fiddler crabs for sheepshead in late winter. Most days bring two uneven high and low tides, the channel runs hard on both, and the falling tide pulls bait out of the flats. Parking is at the ramp. Watch for boat traffic, road traffic on the approach and summer lightning.
