Flagler Park, Stuart Fishing

6.7· Pier· Stuart, FL

Flagler Park is the City of Stuart's downtown waterfront green at the foot of the Roosevelt Bridge, where the St. Lucie River runs wide and tidal toward the Indian River Lagoon. Its lighted fishing pier and the river walk beside it let you fish the deeper edge of the channel without a boat. Snook, mangrove snapper and sheepshead hold around the pilings and bridge shadows, with jacks, ladyfish and the odd tarpon rolling through when bait is thick. Live shrimp and pilchards on light tackle do most of the work, and the pier lights draw bait and predators after dark. Free parking lots sit a short walk away, and the park has accessible restrooms. Boat wakes and slick boards are the main hazards.
