Surfside Public Beach Fishing

5.7· Beach · Surfside, FL

Free: No charge to fish; metered town parking with a three-hour limit (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Surfside Public Beach is about a mile of Atlantic sand in the small town of Surfside, between Miami Beach and Bal Harbour, and the town's code expressly allows surf fishing from it. The catch is the clock: the town permits surfcasting from its public beach only between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. That makes it a night and first-light spot for pompano and whiting on sand fleas in the cooler months, bluefish and Spanish mackerel on winter fronts, jacks and blue runners most of the year, and snook cruising the trough on summer nights. Fish the rising tide and the first of the fall. The town's metered lots are open around the clock, with wheelchair beach access at 88th and 96th Streets. Watch the flags for rip currents, and give nesting sea turtles room from April to October.
