Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Oleta River State Park is about a thousand acres of mangrove shoreline where the Oleta River meets northern Biscayne Bay in North Miami Beach. Anglers fish from the park's short, accessible fishing pier at the south end of the swimming cove and from the shoreline along the Intracoastal Waterway, the two places the park names for fishing. Snook, mangrove snapper, redfish, spotted seatrout and crevalle jack are the main catches, with tarpon rolling in the warm months, sheepshead in winter and barracuda in clear water. Fish the moving tide early and late in the day with live shrimp, pilchards or soft plastics. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset with a per-vehicle entrance fee, and it often fills on weekends. There are kayak rentals, picnic areas and bathhouses. Watch for boat and paddle traffic, heat, and summer lightning over the bay.
