Newport Fishing Pier

7.2· Pier · Sunny Isles Beach, FL

Fees vary: Free to walk; fishing fee for non-residents, free for residents with city ID (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Newport Fishing Pier juts into the Atlantic from Pier Park at Sunny Isles Beach, where Collins Avenue meets Sunny Isles Beach Boulevard. It is northern Miami-Dade's main ocean fishing pier, run by the City of Sunny Isles Beach, and it puts you over clear beach water. Spanish mackerel, bluefish and blue runners run in winter, kingfish and cobia pass the end on spring and fall migrations, pompano work the surf zone, and snook and tarpon cruise the beach in warmer months. Fishing is only allowed east of the marked yellow line, with a three-rod limit and no cast nets, snatch hooks, treble hooks, kite or shark fishing. Non-residents pay a daily fishing fee, and the pier opens at 7 a.m. or noon depending on the day and closes at 9 p.m. Watch for surfers and swimmers near the pier and summer lightning.
