Long Key State Park is a Florida State Park at mile marker 67.5 on Long Key, between Islamorada and Marathon, where a natural Atlantic shoreline runs out onto shallow seagrass flats. The park lists bonefish and redfish on its grass flats, and its map calls flats fishing for bonefish, permit and tarpon a major attraction of the area; barracuda, snapper, bonnethead sharks and stingrays turn up too. Cast from the shore or wade carefully on a rising tide early or late in the park's day, when tailing fish push up onto the flats. Tides on this Atlantic side come twice a day. The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset for a small entrance fee, with restrooms and a waterside picnic area; since July 12, 2026, all primitive camping and the Golden Orb Trail are closed for construction. Stingrays, heat and summer lightning are the main hazards.
