Coral Cove Park is a free Palm Beach County park on Jupiter Island in Tequesta, with about half a mile of Atlantic beach broken by natural limestone rocks and a short frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway behind it. Only 600 feet of the beach is guarded; the rest runs south of the main lot and is reached by dune crossovers, and that is where anglers fish. The rocks and near-shore reef make it a good surf spot: snook cruise the rocky edges in summer, while pompano, whiting and bluefish run the beach from fall to spring, with Spanish mackerel and jacks chasing bait. On the Intracoastal side anglers catch mangrove snapper, snook and jacks. Fish early on a rising tide with sand fleas, shrimp and pompano jigs. The park has restrooms, outdoor showers and picnic areas, and is open sunrise to sunset. Watch for slippery rocks, rip currents and lightning.
