Spanish River Park Fishing

Fee to fish: Entry requires annual permit or paid daily parking pass (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Spanish River Park is a 94-acre City of Boca Raton park that spans the barrier island, with Intracoastal Waterway frontage on its west side and a guarded Atlantic beach on its east. The city says fishing the Intracoastal is one of visitors' favorite pastimes here. Trees and mangroves line most of that shore, and the park's paths meet open water at the lagoon by Pavilion 2. The waterway holds snook, mangrove snapper and jacks most of the year, sheepshead and black drum in winter, and the occasional tarpon in summer. Surf anglers can also try the beach for pompano and whiting, but not in the designated swimming areas while lifeguards are on duty. The park opens at 8 a.m. and closes at sunset, and parking needs a city permit or a daily pass. Watch for boat wakes, heat and summer lightning.
