Bay Vista Park, St. Petersburg Fishing
6.4· Pier· St. Petersburg, FL
Bay Vista Park is a City of St. Petersburg waterfront park at Pinellas Point Drive and 4th Street South, on the lower Tampa Bay shore near the south tip of the city. The state's Tampa Bay boating and angling guide lists its wooden fishing pier, and local park listings call the pier a favorite with neighborhood anglers and name snook, redfish and trout. Expect trout, redfish and snook around the structure and seawall in the warm months, with sheepshead and snapper near the pilings and rocks, and jacks and ladyfish when bait is running. Fish the moving tide with live shrimp or small baitfish on light tackle, and take your own bait because no bait shop is listed. The park has restrooms and a boat ramp, so watch for trailers and boat traffic in the lane. Summer thunderstorms come up fast.
