Albert Whitted Park, St. Petersburg Fishing
6.0· Seawall· St. Petersburg, FL
Albert Whitted Park is a city park at the southern end of the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront, along the retaining wall beside Albert Whitted Airport on Tampa Bay. Visitors cast and throw nets from the wall, though you should confirm fishing rules with the city. It is a casual seawall spot: walk the wall with light spinning gear and try for snook, redfish, seatrout and sheepshead, with ladyfish, jacks and Spanish mackerel when bait is thick. The deeper water and lights at the wall draw bait on moving tides, and the park is open from 30 minutes before sunrise to 11 p.m. Watch for the drop to the water and for sun and summer storms.
