Clam Bayou Nature Park Fishing

6.0· Backwater · Gulfport, FL

Clam Bayou Nature Park is a small Gulfport nature preserve on the Clam Bayou estuary, an arm of Boca Ciega Bay, with trails, boardwalks, observation decks, docks and a kayak launch. It is a quiet backwater for light tackle: snook and redfish push up the mangrove edges on a rising tide, spotted seatrout feed over the grass toward the bay, and small snapper, sheepshead and jacks hang around the docks. Gulfport's code places the park's fishing dock at its southeast corner, and the city finished storm repairs to that fishing pier in October 2025. Tides are small and mixed, two uneven highs and lows most days; the first half of the incoming tide, bringing cleaner bay water up the bayou, fishes best. The park opens an hour before sunrise and closes an hour after sunset. Expect soft mud, mosquitoes and paddlers at the launch.
