St. Pete Pier Fishing Deck

7.0· Pier · St. Petersburg, FL

Free: No fee to fish; hourly paid parking in pier lots (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The St. Pete Pier Fishing Deck is the one place on downtown St. Petersburg's rebuilt pier where fishing is allowed, a railed deck at the far end of the pier district facing open Tampa Bay. It puts you over deeper water than the downtown seawalls, so Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and jacks blitz bait in the warm months, mangrove snapper and sheepshead hold on the pilings, and snook, redfish and seatrout work the lights and the shallows nearby. Fish a moving tide with live shrimp or small baitfish, and cast small spoons when the birds are working. A bait and tackle shop sits on the pier, parking is paid in the pier lots, and the deck is open from before sunrise until late evening. Summer lightning, heat and busy crowds are the main hazards.
