Vinoy Park, St. Petersburg Fishing

6.0· Seawall· St. Petersburg, FL

Vinoy Park is an 11.6-acre city park on the downtown St. Petersburg bayfront, with a long lawn, a three-mile bayside path and a seawall along Tampa Bay. A local realty blog mentions casting from the nearby seawall, where snook and redfish are common catches along the downtown waterfront, but the city's own page that we could read does not mention fishing, so treat this as an informal spot. Walk the wall with light spinning tackle and live shrimp or pilchards, or throw a paddle-tail at dusk. Seatrout, sheepshead and ladyfish also show up, and mackerel and jacks follow bait in cooler months. The park is open 30 minutes before sunrise to 11 p.m. and is busy with events, so check what is on.
