Carpenter's Park, Milton Fishing
5.6· Pier· Milton, FL
Carpenter's Park is a City of Milton riverfront park on the tidal Blackwater River, a short drive north of downtown. A little fishing pier and docks sit beside two boat-ramp areas, with picnic pavilions, a playground and restrooms. The river here is tidal and brackish, and the angler guides who work out of Milton name redfish and speckled trout as the main targets as you move toward Blackwater Bay, with sheepshead, black drum, flounder and catfish around structure. Expect a relaxed, family-style spot rather than a big-fish pier. Fish on a moving tide with live shrimp or cut bait, and keep your line clear of the ramps, which are busy on weekends. The park is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. unless you are using the boat ramp. Watch for boat traffic and summer lightning.
