Nantahala Beach Public Access, Gulf Breeze Fishing
5.4· Beach· Santa Rosa County, FL
Nantahala Beach Public Access is a small, undeveloped public access point on the Santa Rosa Sound shore in Gulf Breeze, listed by the state's fish and wildlife agency as having no facilities. There is no pier or dock, so this is wade-and-cast bank fishing on a quiet sound beach, best for anglers who like to travel light. The sound holds redfish, speckled trout, flounder and black drum, with Spanish mackerel and bluefish passing through in the warmer months. Work the shoreline with live shrimp under a cork or small soft plastics, and fish the moving tide at first and last light. Parking is very limited and the site is open in daylight only, so arrive early. Watch for boat wakes, stingrays in the shallows and summer lightning. Nothing published says fishing is allowed or banned here, so read the posted signs.
