Caspersen Beach Park Fishing

6.1· Beach · Venice, FL

Caspersen Beach Park is a secluded, natural Gulf beach at the south end of Venice, and since Hurricane Milton washed out Harbor Drive the only way in is on foot or by bike. Anglers who make the trip find snook in the trough through summer, pompano and Gulf whiting from late fall to spring, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and jacks whenever bait runs along the sand, and blacktip sharks on warm evenings. A rising tide at dawn under light east winds gives the clearest water. The park has no vehicle parking, so leave the car at South Brohard Park or come along the Venetian Waterway Park trail, and pack light. With the restrooms closed, carry water. Rip currents, stingrays and summer lightning are the hazards.
