Venice Fishing Pier

7.7· Pier · Venice, FL

Free: Free to fish or walk the pier; no entrance fee (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The Venice Fishing Pier runs about 700 feet into the Gulf from Brohard Park on the south end of Venice, and it is the easiest serious shore fishing in southern Sarasota County. The city runs it free and open around the clock, and no fishing license is needed on the pier. Spanish mackerel and blitzing crevalle jacks hit in spring and fall, sheepshead and mangrove snapper hang on the pilings, pompano cruise the bar in cooler months and tarpon roll past in early summer. Moving water on a clean Gulf is what you want; a dirty westerly swell shuts it down. A bait shop sits midway along the pier, with food, restrooms and free parking ashore. Shark fishing is banned on the pier, the 2026 beach renourishment beside it was due to finish by early October, and lightning is the main hazard on an open deck.
