Centennial Park, Sarasota Fishing

Centennial Park is a City of Sarasota regional park with three double-lane boat ramps on Sarasota Bay at 10th Street, and the city lists fishing among its amenities. The bay shoreline, with small beaches between rock breakwaters beside the ramps, gives room to fish away from the ramp lanes; trout, snook, redfish and mangrove snapper feed around the rocks and docks, with sheepshead and black drum in the cooler months and ladyfish and Spanish mackerel in the bay in spring and fall. City code closes parks from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. but lets people stay in Centennial Park overnight while actively fishing or boating, which makes it one of the few downtown spots for a night session. NOAA's Sarasota Bay station shows two uneven highs and lows on most days, usually one to two feet apart. Restrooms are open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; keep well clear of the busy ramps.
