Spyglass Beachfront Park Fishing

5.9· Beach · Marineland, FL

Free: Free on foot; driving onto the sand needs a seasonal pass (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Spyglass Beachfront Park is a small St. Johns County access on A1A South between Crescent Beach and Matanzas Inlet, known for the county's tallest dune boardwalk: about 267 feet long with 76 steps. At the bottom is a wide, open beach on the county's driving stretch between the Crescent Beach and Fort Matanzas ramps, so you can walk on from the 23-space lot or drive on with a pass and fish beside the vehicle. Whiting and pompano are the steady targets on shrimp, clams and sand fleas, with bluefish and Spanish mackerel on the spring and fall runs and redfish and black drum in the colder months; flounder gather toward the inlet in fall. Tides run twice a day over several feet. The park opens at 7 a.m. and closes at dark. Shark fishing and chumming are banned; watch for rips, lightning and cars on the sand.
