Colin's Park is a small City of Daytona Beach riverfront park on the beachside of the Halifax River, off Halifax Avenue at University Boulevard, and its fishing dock runs out over the river. It is a neighborhood spot for an easy few hours: black drum and sheepshead around the dock in the cooler months, redfish and spotted seatrout along the edges, and mangrove snapper, jacks and ladyfish in summer. Shrimp on a small bottom rig beside the structure catches most things, with a popping cork for trout early in the day. The river's tide is small here, so moving water and calm, clear conditions matter more than tide height. The park has parking, restrooms, water fountains, picnic tables, a grill, a playground and a fenced dog park, and it keeps daytime hours that change with the season. Summer lightning is the main hazard.
