Sunrise Park, Holly Hill Fishing

6.5· Pier · Holly Hill, FL

Free: Free admission (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Sunrise Park in Holly Hill occupies a grassy point on the Halifax River off Riverside Drive, and its long fishing pier, rebuilt by the city after storm damage, runs nearly 400 feet out into the river. That reach is the draw: you fish open water well away from the bank instead of the shallows, so spotted seatrout, redfish and black drum are all realistic, with sheepshead on the pilings in winter and mangrove snapper, jacks and ladyfish in the warm months. Shrimp on the bottom or under a cork catches most of them, and a jig worked along the pier edges picks up trout. The river's tide is small here, so moving water and a light breeze help more than tide height. The park is free, with parking, restrooms, a playground and pavilions, one of them over the water. Lightning and heat are the main summer hazards.
