Main Street Bridge, Daytona Beach Fishing

5.8· Bridge· Holly Hill, FL

The Main Street Bridge carries Main Street over the Halifax River between Daytona Beach and the beachside, and anglers fish it, with parking on the west side. The Halifax is a tidal lagoon river, brackish with ocean water coming in through Ponce Inlet, and the bridge's pilings and shadows hold sheepshead, black drum, mangrove snapper and redfish, with seatrout over the grass and sand nearby. It is a bascule drawbridge with heavy traffic, so fishing is from the sidewalk or the shoreline at the ends, and the county has had deck and sidewalk repair work out for bid. Watch traffic and boats, and read any posted signs.
