Davis Bayou Fishing Pier

6.2· Pier· Ocean Springs, MS

The Davis Bayou Fishing Pier is the designated fishing spot in the Davis Bayou Area of Gulf Islands National Seashore, on the east side of Ocean Springs. A short walk from the William M. Colmer Visitor Center parking brings you to an all-weather board pier that reaches about 50 feet over the marsh-lined bayou and ends under a small pavilion. It is a calm, scenic place to fish brackish water for speckled trout, redfish, flounder and sheepshead, with croaker and catfish in summer, and herons and dolphins for company. Live shrimp under a cork or on a light bottom rig is the best all-round bait. The area gate opens at 8 a.m. and closes at sunset. Fishing is allowed only from this pier, not the boat-ramp docks, and a Mississippi saltwater license is required.
