The Ocean Springs Fishing Pier is Jackson County's long public pier on the north side of the US 90 bridge across the mouth of Biloxi Bay, reached by walking under the bridge from the west end of Front Beach. Tourism listings put it at about 1,320 feet with four shaded pavilions along the way, so there is room to spread out over deeper, moving water than most of the Ocean Springs shoreline offers. The bridge pilings and the flow through the bay mouth draw black drum, redfish and sheepshead, with speckled trout and white trout in the cooler months and Spanish mackerel in summer. Fish the moving tide with shrimp, crab or cut bait on the bottom, or a cork rig for trout. The county lists no fee. Expect summer storms, wakes from boats running the channel and slick boards after rain.
