Chester McPhearson Jr. Pier Fishing

Free: No fees that we could confirm; parking at Fort Maurepas Park across the road (checked Oct 17, 2026)

The Chester McPhearson Jr. Pier is the City of Ocean Springs' fishing pier on Front Beach, directly across Front Beach Drive from Fort Maurepas Park, where there is parking, a playground, a splash pad and restrooms. The city has listed fishing, fish cleaning stations and lighting among the pier's amenities, which makes it an easy evening outing for families. It reaches out over the shallow, sandy edge of the Mississippi Sound near the mouth of Biloxi Bay, a good stretch for speckled trout, white trout and croaker, with redfish, flounder and sheepshead around the pilings and Spanish mackerel passing in summer. Fish shrimp under a cork or on a light bottom rig, and time trips for moving water. The state awarded the city money in 2025 to rehabilitate the pier, so check that it is open before you go. Watch for summer storms.
