Free: The county lists no fees for the pier and boat ramp (checked Oct 17, 2026)
The Old Fort Bayou Pier is a Jackson County fishing pier and boat ramp beside the Washington Avenue (Highway 609) bridge on the north edge of Ocean Springs, on a tidal bayou that drains into Biloxi Bay. The county lists the pier and ramp among its public facilities, and state Tidelands money paid for a pier extension and shade roofs. The water is brackish and changes with rain: in dry spells speckled trout, redfish, flounder and black drum push well up the bayou, while after heavy rain the bayou runs fresh and the saltwater fish drop back toward the bay. Sheepshead work the bridge pilings in the cooler months. Live shrimp under a cork, or soft plastics fished along the shady pilings, catch most fish. Watch for boats at the ramp and for summer thunderstorms.
