Alabama Point East Fishing
7.7· Inlet· Orange Beach, AL
Free: Free to fish; Gulf State Park daily parking fee, and one pass covers every park beach access (checked Oct 17, 2026)
Alabama Point East is the Gulf State Park beach access on the east side of Perdido Pass, where a broad Gulf beach curls around the sand point at the inlet's mouth and runs out to the east jetty. Two kinds of water meet here: the deep, fast pass on one side and open surf on the other. Seasoned anglers come for bluefish, Spanish mackerel and heavy redfish in the swirl off the point, the surf gives pompano and Gulf kingfish in spring and fall, and the jetty rocks hold sheepshead and black drum. Fish the edges of the current rather than the middle of the channel. The park charges a daily parking fee, and boardwalks lead from the lot over the dunes to the sand. The pass drops off quickly and carries constant boat traffic, so fish from the beach and never wade off the point.
