Shell Beach, Orange Beach Fishing

6.1· Beach· Orange Beach, AL

Free: Free to fish; Gulf State Park daily parking fee in a gravel lot (checked Oct 17, 2026)

Shell Beach is the easternmost Gulf State Park beach access in Orange Beach, a plain gravel lot and a dune walkover on the Alabama end of Perdido Key, a short drive east of the Perdido Pass Bridge. It is a no-frills surf spot with fewer families than the bigger accesses, which leaves room to spread out two or three rods. Pompano and Gulf kingfish are the main targets in spring and fall, redfish cruise the troughs in the cooler months, and Spanish mackerel and bluefish come through on clean water when bait runs along the beach. Fish the gutter between the shore and the first bar, especially early and late in the day. A daily state park parking fee applies, and the only restroom is a seasonal portable one. Rip currents form along this beach, so watch the flags and wade with care.
