Burgoyne Road Beach is a Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge beach access near the western tip of the Fort Morgan peninsula, where a paved road runs about a quarter mile through the refuge's dunes from Highway 180 to the Gulf, along the eastern edge of the Fort Morgan State Historic Site grounds. The refuge invites surf fishing from its beach in daylight, and this undeveloped stretch of sand lies about a mile from the mouth of Mobile Bay. Redfish, pompano and Gulf kingfish are the main surf targets, with speckled trout and Spanish mackerel when the water clears, and spring and fall are the strongest seasons. There are no restrooms, lifeguards or developed parking, the refuge is open sunrise to sunset only, and rip currents and summer lightning are the hazards to respect.
