The Fort Morgan Fishing Pier, officially the State Representative Steve McMillan Fort Morgan Fishing Pier, is a free, 24-hour concrete pier on the Mobile Bay side of Fort Morgan at the far western end of Highway 180. Opened in 2022 to replace a timber pier closed in 2014, the L-shaped deck stands about 8 feet above the water and gives shore anglers rare access to the mouth of Mobile Bay, where redfish, speckled trout and flounder are the headline catch, with white trout, Gulf kingfish, sheepshead and summer Spanish mackerel. The bay's outflow and the tide's turn bring the bait, and big fall runs of redfish pass close by. A two-lane boat ramp sits beside it, and the side facing the boat basin is marked no fishing, so fish the outer rails. Expect strong currents, wind and thunderstorms, and bring a pier net for the high deck.
