The Morgantown Beach Access is a public walkway to the Gulf at the east end of Beach Boulevard on the Fort Morgan peninsula, beside the Morgantown beach community and about two miles west of The Pines boat launch. Fort Morgan has very few public ways onto its long, quiet beach, and this is one of the only ones with a public parking lot, at the head of the walkway. Surf anglers work the near trough for pompano and Gulf kingfish in spring and fall, redfish when the water cools, and Spanish mackerel and bluefish when summer bait crowds the beach. Calm mornings fish best, and the sand is rarely busy. There are no lifeguards, restrooms or shops, so bring what you need, and keep an eye out for rip currents, stingrays and afternoon thunderstorms.
