Wolf Creek Park is a small City of Foley nature park on the tidal lower reach of Wolf Creek, a few miles above Wolf Bay, where a boardwalk crosses a wooded swamp to a fishing pier on the creek with a small pavilion beside it. The creek is brackish but usually on the fresh side: dry spells and south winds push salt water up from the bay, and heavy rain freshens it again, so redfish, flounder, croaker and the odd speckled trout share the water with largemouth bass, bream and catfish. Fish a moving tide with live shrimp or a bull minnow near the pilings and toward the creek channel. The park also has a canoe and kayak launch and picnic areas; plan on daylight fishing and follow the posted rules. Expect mosquitoes, summer lightning and swamp wildlife.
