Romar Beach Fishing

5.8· Beach· Orange Beach, AL

Free: Free to fish; Gulf State Park daily parking fee (checked Oct 17, 2026)

Romar Beach is the westernmost of the Gulf State Park beach accesses in Orange Beach, a paved lot and a short walkover to a wide, open stretch of Gulf sand between the condo towers. The width is the draw for anglers: there is room to set out a couple of surf rods without crowding anyone, which makes it a favorite with families and first-time surf casters. Gulf kingfish and croaker bite on small baits most of the warm season, pompano run the beach in spring and fall, and the odd jack crevalle, redfish or Spanish mackerel keeps things interesting. Fish the trough close to shore early in the morning. The state park charges a daily parking fee and lists restrooms here, and a new bathhouse opened in 2024. Watch for rip currents and summer storms.
