Rolston Park is a City of Bayou La Batre park on Coden Belt Road in Coden, looking south over Portersville Bay, a shallow bay off the Mississippi Sound west of Dauphin Island. Its public fishing pier, the Craig Bryant Memorial Pier, runs about 100 feet out from the shore across Coden Belt Road, and a federal grant is set to double its length. Expect speckled and white trout, croaker and redfish through the warm months, sheepshead and black drum on cool days, and flounder in the fall, mostly on live or fresh shrimp. The water is often murky and moves more with the wind than with the small daily tide. Covered gazebos, a playground and portable toilets are on site. The pier gets crowded, the road runs between the park and the pier, and summer storms are the main hazard.
