Parker City Pier is a public fishing pier of about 563 feet that runs from Earl Gilbert Park into East Bay beside the DuPont Bridge in Parker, built with Deepwater Horizon restoration money and opened in February 2024. It replaced the old bridge that local anglers used to fish, and the water by the bridge channel has long been a local favorite: speckled trout and redfish most of the year, sheepshead and black drum in the cooler months, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and mangrove snapper in summer and flounder in fall. The first stretch crosses shallow flats and the end stands in about 48 feet of water. Tides in East Bay are small, usually one high and one low a day, so fish the moving water. It is free, and city code exempts the pier from Parker's park closing hours; watch for lightning, hard current and bridge construction.
