Horseshoe Beach is a tiny fishing village at the end of County Road 351 in Dixie County, and the county's Butler-Douglas Memorial Park at the tip of the point is where shore anglers can reach the Gulf. The shoreline is rocky and oyster-strewn rather than sandy, facing the grass flats and oyster bars of Horseshoe Cove, prime water for speckled trout, redfish and sheepshead, with Spanish mackerel and ladyfish in summer and a strong fall trout season. Fish the rising tide over the grass and the falling tide at creek and channel mouths. The town was hit hard by Hurricanes Idalia and Helene and facilities at the park are still limited. Watch the oyster bars and summer lightning.
