Flagler Beach at South 22nd Street Fishing
5.2· Beach· Flagler Beach, FL
South 22nd Street is one of the dune walkovers that the City of Flagler Beach maintains along State Road A1A, about a mile from the pier and its crowds. The fishing is plain surf fishing: walk over the dune, find the trough where the waves break and drop a baited rig just past it. Whiting and pompano are the everyday catches, with bluefish and Spanish mackerel when bait is thick, and redfish or black drum on cut bait in the cooler months. Parking is roadside only and the city enforces no-parking zones along the dunes, so read the signs before you leave a car. The walkover took storm damage in past years, so check it is open before you carry gear. The city does not list fishing here, so treat this as a low-confidence spot and read the posted signs. Rip currents and stingrays are the main hazards.
