Flagler Beach at South 26th Street Fishing
6.0· Beach· Flagler Beach, FL
This is open Atlantic surf at the quiet south end of Flagler Beach, reached by the city's dune walkovers off State Road A1A, a little north of Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area. There is no pier and no jetty here, just a long sand beach where anglers walk down, read the troughs at low water and cast a bottom rig into the first or second gut. Whiting and pompano are the everyday targets, with bluefish and Spanish mackerel when baitfish are close in spring and fall, and redfish and black drum for patient anglers using cut bait. Fish an hour either side of high tide with sand fleas or shrimp. Parking is on the roadside only, with no-parking zones along the dunes, so read the signs. Watch for rip currents and stingrays, and never walk on the dunes.
