Bald Point State Park Fishing Pier, Alligator Point

6.4· Pier· Franklin County, FL

Bald Point State Park's small fishing pier sits at the north end of the park, where Bald Point Road ends at Ochlockonee Bay, with a mobi-mat path that makes it reachable for wheelchairs and strollers. The brackish bay is known for redfish, flounder, trout and mullet, and anglers report oyster bars near the river mouth holding reds, flounder, trout, Spanish mackerel and ladyfish. Fish a live shrimp on a jig head or under a popping cork, or throw gold or pink spoons, on a moving tide. The pier is a separate entrance from the park's Alligator Harbor beach side. A per-vehicle state park entry fee applies, so check the current amount. Expect heat, biting insects and sudden summer storms.
