Cape Palms Park Fishing

6.4· Beach · Gulf County, FL

Free: No entry fee listed for this county park (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Cape Palms Park is a Gulf County beach park on the Gulf side of the St. Joseph Peninsula, a few miles south of the state park, with walk-on access over a boardwalk, drive-on access for vehicles with a county permit, restrooms, a rinse shower, a covered pavilion with picnic tables and a swing, and plenty of parking. The surf faces open Gulf and fishes like the rest of Cape San Blas: pompano, Gulf whiting and redfish in spring and fall, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, bluefish and sharks in summer, and bull reds along the bars in fall. Fish the first trough with shrimp or sand fleas on a double-drop rig, and cut mullet for reds. Gulf County has no lifeguards on its beaches. Watch for rip currents, stingrays and summer lightning.
