St. Joseph Peninsula State Park (Cape San Blas) Fishing

7.2· Beach · Gulf County, FL

Also called T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle, plus boat launch fee (checked Sep 27, 2026)

T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park covers the northern end of the Cape San Blas peninsula, with wild Gulf beach on one side and the clear, grassy shallows of St. Joseph Bay on the other. Surf anglers take pompano, Gulf whiting, redfish and Spanish mackerel from the Gulf beach, while the bay offers some of the Panhandle's best wading for speckled trout, redfish and flounder. Fish the moving tide at dawn and dusk; shrimp, sand fleas, soft plastics and topwater plugs all work. The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset with an entrance fee, day-use restrooms, a boat ramp and a park concession. It is remote, so bring what you need. Watch for rip currents, stingrays, lightning and heat.
