Salinas Park Fishing

Free: Free entry to this county park (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Salinas Park is a free Gulf County park on Cape San Blas Road, near County Road 30A, in two halves across the road from each other: on the bay side a long boardwalk pier crosses the salt marsh at the head of St. Joseph Bay to a tidal creek, and on the Gulf side a walkway leads to the beach. The creek holds redfish, speckled trout, flounder and pinfish, with sheepshead and black drum in cooler months, while the Gulf surf gives pompano, Gulf whiting, redfish and summer Spanish mackerel. Fish a moving tide at dawn or dusk with live shrimp under a cork or a soft plastic along the creek, and shrimp or sand fleas in the surf. Both sides have restrooms, grills and a playground, and the bay side adds screened picnic tables and a shower. Watch for stingrays, rip currents on the Gulf side and summer lightning.
