Dunes Drive Beach Access, Cape San Blas Fishing

6.4· Beach · Gulf County, FL

Free: No fee listed for this beach access (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Dunes Drive Beach Access is a Gulf County public access on north Cape San Blas, on the Gulf side of the St. Joseph Peninsula, with parking, restrooms and ADA Mobi-Mats down to the sand, plus drive-on access for beach driving permit holders. The west-facing beach is a clean, open surf spot: pompano and Gulf whiting work the first trough in spring and fall, redfish cruise the bar and run hard in the fall, and Spanish mackerel, bluefish and jacks chase bait through the warm months. Sand fleas or shrimp on a double-drop rig cover the trough, and spoons take the fast fish. Gulf County has no lifeguards; volunteers and South Gulf Fire Rescue update the beach flags daily. Rip currents, stingrays, vehicles on the sand and summer lightning are the hazards to watch.
