Gulfside City Park Fishing

Free: No entry fee; paid parking day and night (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Gulfside City Park, known locally as Algiers Beach, is a City of Sanibel beach park on the island's southern Gulf shore, with a paid lot and a short paved path and boardwalk to the sand. The surf in front of it fishes like the rest of Sanibel's Gulf beach: pompano and whiting on the bars from fall to spring, Spanish mackerel, jacks and ladyfish when the bait runs, snook cruising the trough in summer and redfish and blacktip sharks in the warm months. Start early and fish the incoming water with sand fleas, shrimp or small jigs, walking the beach to find troughs and shell beds. The park has restrooms, showers, a picnic shelter and grills, and parking is paid by the hour. Watch for lightning, stingrays and swimmers.
