Tarpon Bay Road Beach Park Fishing

6.2· Beach · Sanibel, FL

Free: No entry fee; paid parking around the clock (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Tarpon Bay Road Beach Park is a City of Sanibel beach access in the middle of the island's Gulf shore, where a quarter-mile walk from a paid lot brings you onto a long, open stretch of sand. It is a straightforward surf-fishing spot: pompano and whiting feed along the bars from fall through spring, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and jacks chase bait on the migrations, snook patrol the trough in the summer months and redfish and blacktip sharks turn up in the warm season. Fish the early morning on a rising tide with sand fleas, shrimp or small jigs, and move along the beach to find a trough or a cut in the bar. Parking is paid by the hour, and there are restrooms and showers. Watch for lightning, stingrays and swimmers.
