Sanibel Lighthouse Beach Fishing

6.6· Beach · Punta Rassa, FL

Free: No entrance fee; paid hourly parking (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Lighthouse Beach Park wraps the eastern point of Sanibel Island beside the historic lighthouse, where San Carlos Bay meets the Gulf and the tide runs fast along the point. The beach park is open, but the city's fishing pier on the bay side is closed until further notice while Sanibel plans its replacement, so for now you fish from the sand. Wade the point and the bay shore for snook in summer, pompano and Spanish mackerel on their runs, sheepshead in winter, and trout, redfish and snapper along the edges. Moving tide at the point is the key. The park is open 24 hours with parking at $5 an hour, and it is smoke- and vape-free. The current off the point is strong, so keep your wading shallow.
