Bowman's Beach Park Fishing

6.7· Beach · Sanibel, FL

Free: No entry fee; paid parking, county annual pass accepted (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Bowman's Beach Park covers a lightly developed western stretch of Sanibel's Gulf shore, a quarter-mile walk from its parking lot, and its long open beach gives surf anglers room to spread out even though it is one of the island's most popular parks. Snook cruise the trough close to the sand from late spring into fall, pompano, whiting and Spanish mackerel run in the cooler months and on the spring and fall migrations, and ladyfish, jacks, redfish and blacktip sharks fill in, with tarpon rolling offshore in early summer. Fish the first and last light on a moving tide with live shrimp, sand fleas or a small jig. Parking is paid by the hour, and the park has restrooms and showers. Watch for lightning, stingrays in the wash and the many swimmers, dogs and shorebirds that share the beach.
