Rose Park, Bradenton Fishing

Rose Park is a small Manatee County park on the east shore of Palma Sola Bay in west Bradenton, with a short fishing dock, benches and parking right on the water. The county describes the dock as a place to enjoy the sun and fishing, and the park is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. behind an automated gate. The bay is shallow and grassy, so spotted seatrout, redfish and snook cruise past on the higher tides, sheepshead and black drum come around in the cooler months, and ladyfish, jacks and small mangrove snapper fill in when the water is warm. A shrimp under a popping cork or a soft plastic covers most of it. Palma Sola Bay has failed state bacteria standards in recent testing, so avoid wading with cuts and wash your hands after handling fish.
