East Greynolds Park Fishing Dock, North Miami Beach
5.4· Backwater· North Miami Beach, FL
East Greynolds Park is the small eastern unit of Miami-Dade's Greynolds Park, on Biscayne Boulevard beside Maule Lake and the tidal Oleta River, and the county lists a fishing dock here along with a kayak launch and a bark park. The water is a brackish tidal backwater, a former rock pit joined to Biscayne Bay by the Oleta, so the catch shifts with rain and tide. A sailor on a local forum reported plenty of mullet and big tarpon rolling in the lake at night, and anglers there say the canal near the launch gives little barracuda and small jacks. Expect light-tackle fishing from the dock with live shrimp or small jigs. The park opens at 8 a.m. and closes at sunset. Watch for sun, mosquitoes and the occasional crocodile.
