Destin East Pass Jetty Fishing

7.4· Jetty · Destin, FL

Free: Free beach access to the jetty; no entry fee (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The east jetty at Destin's East Pass is a granite rock jetty on the Holiday Isle side of the inlet, where Choctawhatchee Bay drains into the Gulf. Strong tidal flow over deep water makes it one of the Panhandle's best shore spots for redfish, black drum, sheepshead and flounder, with Spanish mackerel, bluefish, little tunny and pompano in season and cobia and kings passing in spring. Fish the moving tide, especially the outgoing, with live shrimp, fiddler crabs and jigs. The usual way in is the city's small O'Steen public beach access on Gulf Shore Drive, where parking is very limited, then a walk along the beach to the rocks. The jetty rocks are large, uneven and slick, with deep gaps between them and heavy boat traffic in the pass.
